How’d ya like to save my life From a fate worse than living? How’d ya like to grab the knife That’s been jammed into my back? I would like to strike a bargain If you think it’s worth the time I would gladly save your life If only you’d save mine How’d ya like to be the one To help me find my purpose? How’d ya like to grab the gun I’ve been holding to my head? ‘Cause I think we’ve both been sinking For the longest time But I would gladly save your life If only you’d save mine And I know it’s no simple task And perhaps too much to ask But I think I’m worth saving How’d ya like to come along And show me something better? How’d ya like to right the wrong That I just can’t seem to shake? I would proudly trade this poison For the finest wine And I would gladly save your life If only you’d same mine And I know it’s no simple task And perhaps too much to ask But I think you’re worth saving © 2005 Michael Daly (ASCAP)

Follow You 03:12
Somehow Something Sucked the air out of the room Can't catch My breath And it's all because of you And I can't help thinking As you walk away that I would Follow you Anywhere Call a cop on me, I don't care 'Cause you're young and sweet And almost innocent Nothing short of magnificent Somehow Something Took complete control of me I'd walk Over But I've been knocked clean off my feet Though I'm sure that I could Summon the strength I'd need to Follow you Anywhere Throw a rock at me, I don't care ’Cause when God made woman You were what he meant Nothing short of magnificent And every man and woman in the room Is singing your tune I would Follow you Anywhere Put a pox on me, I don't care 'Cause you're young and sweet And almost innocent Nothing short of magnificent Copyright 2004 Michael Daly (ASCAP)

Broken 03:59
I've got no more dreams to share, I've plum run out And though you said you cared, I’ve always had my doubts Now you can't strangle my faith ’cause it’s already chokin’ And you can't break a heart that's already broken I've got no sanity to spare, that well's run dry And that might account for the wild look in my eye People come up to me and say, "Hey, man, what you been smokin'?" And I say "You can't break a man who's already broken" So slice me, dice me, flush my soul down the drain It don't matter none ’cause I'm already numb to the pain You can slap me and shake me but you ain't gonna wake me from this 'Cause I've been done in, stung by a poisonous kiss I’ve got no more patience left, so spare me your tears Don’t tell me you’ve found your conscience after all these years You can't take back your words, they've already been spoken And you can't break a heart that's already broken So whip me, beat me, chain my body to the wall Make me watch while you and your lover do it all Then pull my head back by the hair and throw salt in my eyes But first you'll have dig me out from under an avalanche of lies I've no longer got the floor, I've used up my time It's just one more case where the punishment don't fit the crime And if you think this is justice, I tell ya, you must be jokin' But you can't break a man who's already broken Copyright 2005 Michael Daly (ASCAP)

I'm keenly aware of time bearing down on me I'm keenly aware of time bearing down on me I've been looking all my life For a woman to be my wife And I'm keenly aware of time bearing down on me I'm keenly aware that I ain't got no time to waste I'm keenly aware that I ain't got no time to waste I've been dreaming all my days Of a child that I could raise And I'm keenly aware of time bearing down on me I'm keenly aware that time might be running out I'm keenly aware that time might be running out And the more I'm forced to wait The more I feel it might be too late And I'm keenly aware of time bearing down on me Copyright 2009 Michael Daly (ASCAP)

about

Since 1991, Mike Daly has been the lead singer and principal songwriter for New Jersey-based power-pop stalwarts, Every Damn Day. In 2008, with EDD on hiatus, Daly embarked on a solo recording and performing project designed to feature an ever-evolving and revolving cast of musicians. The result is Mike Daly & The Planets, which for this release featured members of Daly’s bar band of the same name – Jim Van Sickle (bass/organ), Jim “Smitty” Smith (drums), and Tim Gillespie (lead guitar) – as well as Mike’s brother Chuck Daly (lead guitar) and brother-in-law Charlie Moeller (piano), and Smitty’s daughter, Amy Marie Smith (acoustic guitar/violin). The band’s debut 4-song EP, "The Cosmic Adventures of ManBoy," was released internationally in August 2010 on Daly's independent label, Pop Goes The World. The title was partially inspired by a quote from the 2005 film, Fever Pitch: "You're like a man-boy: half man, half boy." Daly elaborates that he imagined "ManBoy" as "sort of a superhero whose primary power is his ability to remain young at heart despite myriad adversities." The EP's lead track, "No Simple Task," describes how people knowingly and unknowingly save each other's lives every day. "Follow You" rocks to the pounding pulse of instant attraction. The incendiary "Broken" finds a man at his breaking point over people who haven't lived up to his expectations. Last but certainly not least, "Mikey's Lament" is a rollicking blues/rock number in which our hero voices concern that "time might be running out" for him to achieve his major life goals. In a review of "The Cosmic Adventures of ManBoy" for the New Jersey-based music newspaper, The Aquarian Weekly, critic Mike Greenblatt raved: "Four songs. 13 minutes. All muscle. Not a second of fat."
